Ingredients

1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined

3 cups broccoli florets

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

Zest and juice of 1 lemon

Salt and black pepper, to taste

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

1 tablespoon olive oil

Cooked rice or pasta, for serving (optional)

Instructions

Cook the Broccoli: Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the broccoli florets and blanch for 2-3 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and immediately transfer to a bowl of ice water to halt the cooking process. Once cooled, drain again and set aside.

Sauté the Shrimp: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Once hot, add the shrimp in a single layer. Season with salt and black pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until pink, then flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fully cooked. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Make the Garlic Butter: In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium. Add the butter and let it melt. Once melted, add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.

Combine Ingredients: Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet along with the blanched broccoli. Add the lemon zest and juice, stirring to coat everything in the garlic butter sauce. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to warm through.

Serve: Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt, pepper, or lemon juice as needed. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve immediately over rice or pasta, if desired.
