Once you’ve mixed together your ingredients for the Crunchy Delight Apple Oat Snack Bars, it’s crucial to transfer the mixture to the baking pan correctly. This part of the process ensures that the bars hold together beautifully after baking. To do this, begin by lining an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, allowing some overhang for easy removal later.

Ingredients

2 cups rolled oats

1 cup unsweetened applesauce

1 large apple, peeled and diced (about 1 cup)

1/2 cup almond butter (or peanut butter)

1/4 cup honey or maple syrup

1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, or almonds)

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup raisins or dried cranberries (optional)

1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8 inch (or 9x9 inch) baking pan with parchment paper, leaving a bit of an overhang for easy removal.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, chopped nuts, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Stir until well mixed.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the applesauce, almond butter, and honey or maple syrup until smooth and fully combined.

Incorporate Apples: Gently fold the diced apple and optional ingredients (raisins and chocolate chips) into the wet mixture.

Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry oat mixture. Stir until everything is well incorporated, making sure the oats are fully coated.

Transfer to Pan: Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking pan. Use a spatula to press it down firmly so that the bars will hold together once baked.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.

Cool Down: Remove from the oven and let the bars cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then lift the bars out using the parchment paper overhang, and let them cool completely on a wire rack.

Cut into Bars: Once cooled, slice into bars or squares of your preferred size.

Storage: Store leftover bars in an airtight container at room temperature for a week or in the refrigerator for extended freshness.
