Ingredients

1 cup fresh blackberries

1/2 cup fresh sage leaves (plus extra for garnish)

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4-6 lemons)

4 cups cold water

Ice cubes

Lemon slices (for garnish)

Instructions

Make the Sage-Blackberry Syrup:

    - In a medium saucepan, combine the blackberries, sage leaves, and sugar.

      - Add 1 cup of water and bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves and the blackberries begin to break down, about 5-7 minutes.

        - Remove from heat and let it cool for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

          Strain the Syrup:

            - Using a fine mesh strainer, pour the mixture through to extract the syrup into a bowl or pitcher, pressing down on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids.

              Mix the Lemonade:

                - In a large pitcher, combine the fresh lemon juice and the remaining 3 cups of cold water.

                  - Slowly stir in the strained sage-blackberry syrup until well mixed. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness to your preference by adding more syrup or water if necessary.

                    Serve:

                      - Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the blackberry sage lemonade over the ice.

                        - Garnish with fresh sage leaves and lemon slices for an elegant presentation.

                          Enjoy:

                            - Serve immediately or chill in the refrigerator for up to 2 hours before serving.
