Ingredients

1 batch of sweet roll dough (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup cooked bacon, chopped

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/4 cup bourbon

1 cup maple syrup

1/2 cup heavy cream

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: If using homemade sweet roll dough, prepare and let it rise according to your recipe. If using store-bought, allow it to sit at room temperature for 30 minutes for easier handling.

Mix Sugar and Spices: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Set aside.

Assemble the Rolls: On a floured surface, roll out the sweet dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Spread the softened butter evenly across the surface, leaving a small border around the edges.

Add the Filling: Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture evenly over the buttered dough. Then, distribute the chopped bacon across the sugar mixture, pressing gently to embed it into the filling.

Roll It Up: Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the seams to seal and cut the log into 12 even pieces.

Prepare the Baking Dish: In a large baking dish, whisk together the maple syrup, bourbon, and heavy cream. Pour this mixture into the bottom of the dish.

Arrange the Rolls: Place the cut rolls into the dish on top of the bourbon-maple mixture. Make sure to leave some space between them for rising. Cover and let them rise in a warm place for about 30-45 minutes or until doubled in size.

Preheat Oven: While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Bake: Once the rolls have risen, bake them in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

Prepare the Icing: In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and a tablespoon of bourbon or maple syrup to reach your desired icing consistency.

Finish the Rolls: After baking, allow the rolls to cool for a few minutes before drizzling the bourbon maple icing generously over them.

Serve: Serve warm and enjoy the decadent blend of flavors that meld together in these incredible Bourbon Maple Bacon Cinnamon Rolls!
