Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

1 cup packed light brown sugar

2 large eggs

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1 cup granulated sugar (for coating)

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Brown the Butter: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and continue cooking until it turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma, stirring frequently. This will take about 5-7 minutes. Be careful not to burn it. Once browned, remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the brown butter with the granulated sugar and brown sugar. Beat together until well combined. Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon.

Mix Together: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix; it’s okay if there are a few lumps.

Prepare Coating: In a small bowl, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar with 1 tablespoon of cinnamon. Set aside.

Pour the Batter: Spread the cookie dough evenly into the prepared baking dish. Smooth it out with a spatula.

Add Cinnamon Sugar: Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture generously over the top of the cookie dough.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool and Cut: Allow the bars to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Lift them out using the parchment paper (if used) and let cool completely on a wire rack. Once cool, cut into squares or bars.

Serve and Enjoy: Serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy the rich, buttery flavor of these delightful snickerdoodle bars!
