Cheesy Bacon Twist

1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup cooked and crumbled bacon (about 6-8 slices)

1 egg (for egg wash)

2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives (optional)

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Flour (for dusting)

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    Prepare the Puff Pastry: Lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the puff pastry sheet into a rectangle, about 1/8 inch thick. Cut it into long strips, around 1 inch wide.

      Mix the Filling: In a bowl, combine the shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, garlic powder, and chives (if using). Add salt and pepper to taste.

        Assemble the Twists: Take one pastry strip and place a spoonful of the cheese and bacon mixture at one end. Fold the other end over to cover the filling, pressing gently to seal. Twist the strip several times to create a spiral shape and then place it on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining strips and filling.

          Egg Wash: Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush it over the tops of each twist to give them a golden color when baked.

            Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the twists are puffed and golden brown.

              Cool & Serve: Allow the twists to cool for a few minutes before serving. They’re best enjoyed warm, fresh from the oven!
