1 cup granulated sugar

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup whole milk

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ teaspoon salt

½ cup brown sugar, packed

¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Preheat Your Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan with non-stick spray or butter.

    Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using). Set it aside.

      Cream the Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. This can be done using a hand mixer or a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment.

        Add Eggs and Milk: Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then add the whole milk and vanilla extract, and continue mixing until well combined.
