Ingredients

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

3/4 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup cornstarch

1/4 cup finely chopped nuts (e.g., pecans or almonds) - optional

Sea salt for sprinkling (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Cream the Butter: In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to cream the softened butter and powdered sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Add Vanilla: Mix in the vanilla extract until well combined.

Combine the Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, salt, and cornstarch until combined.

Mix Dry and Wet Ingredients: Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter mixture, beating on low speed until just incorporated. Avoid overmixing; the dough should be slightly crumbly yet hold together when pressed.

Incorporate Nuts: If using, fold in the finely chopped nuts until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Shape the Cookies: Take about a tablespoon of dough and roll it into a ball, then flatten it slightly with your palm. Place the cookies about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet. If desired, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top of each cookie.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers should remain pale.

Cool: Once baked, remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serve and Enjoy: Once cooled, serve the buttery bliss cookies with tea or coffee, or store them in an airtight container for later enjoyment.
