Ingredients

1 cup almond butter (preferably creamy)

1/2 cup pure maple syrup or honey

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon sea salt

1 cup rolled oats (gluten-free if necessary)

1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (or dairy-free chocolate chips)

1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional, for extra crunch)

Flaky sea salt for topping (optional)

Instructions

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine almond butter, maple syrup (or honey), cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and sea salt. Stir well until smooth and fully incorporated.

Add Oats: Gradually add the rolled oats into the wet mixture. Stir until all oats are fully coated and combined. If using, fold in the chopped nuts for added texture.

Chocolate Chips: Gently fold the dark chocolate chips into the mixture until evenly distributed.

Prepare the Pan: Line an 8x8-inch (20x20 cm) square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.

Spread Mixture: Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Use a spatula to evenly spread the mixture and press it down firmly to ensure it holds together.

Chill: Place the pan in the freezer and allow the mixture to freeze for at least 1-2 hours, until it's firm.

Cut into Squares: Once frozen, remove the mixture from the pan using the parchment paper overhang. Place it on a cutting board and cut into small squares, approximately 1.5 inches each.

Optional Topping: If desired, sprinkle some flaky sea salt on top of the squares before storing them in the freezer for an added flavor boost.

Store: Place the squares in an airtight container or freezer bag and store them in the freezer for up to 3 months. They can be enjoyed straight from the freezer or allowed to sit at room temperature for a few minutes to soften.

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 2 hours 15 minutes | Servings: 16 squares
