Ingredients

12 oz linguine or spaghetti

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

3 tablespoons olive oil

6 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

1/2 cup dry white wine (like Sauvignon Blanc)

Juice of 1 lemon

Zest of 1 lemon

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving

Lemon wedges, for garnish

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the linguine or spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.

Prepare the Shrimp: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter. Once melted and hot, add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for about 30 seconds, until fragrant, stirring frequently to avoid burning.

Cook the Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the shrimp are pink and opaque. Remove the cooked shrimp and set aside.

Create the Sauce: In the same skillet, pour in the white wine, lemon juice, and lemon zest. Bring to a simmer, scraping up any brown bits from the bottom of the pan. Let the sauce reduce for about 2-3 minutes.

Combine Pasta and Shrimp: Reduce the heat to low and return the shrimp to the skillet. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, fresh parsley, and basil. Stir to combine, then add the cooked pasta to the skillet. Toss everything together, adding reserved pasta water as needed to reach your desired sauce consistency.

Serve: Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt, pepper, or lemon juice if desired. Plate the pasta in bowls, topped with grated Parmesan cheese and lemon wedges for garnish.
