1 cup long-grain rice (Basmati or Jasmine)

2 cups vegetable or chicken broth

3 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a kick)

Instructions
 

Rinse the Rice: Place the rice in a fine mesh strainer and rinse under cold water until the water runs clear. This helps to remove excess starch and keep the rice from becoming sticky.

    Sauté Garlic: In a medium saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant, but not browned.

      Toast the Rice: Add the rinsed rice to the saucepan with the garlic and stir well to coat. Cook for about 1-2 minutes, to lightly toast the rice and enhance its flavor.

        Add Broth: Pour in the vegetable or chicken broth. Add salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir well to combine, then bring the mixture to a boil.

          Cook the Rice: Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for about 15-18 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed. Check occasionally to ensure it’s not burning on the bottom.

            Fluff and Add Parmesan: Once the rice is cooked, remove it from the heat and let it sit covered for an additional 5 minutes. Then, add the remaining tablespoon of butter, the grated Parmesan cheese, and the chopped parsley. Fluff the rice gently with a fork to combine all ingredients well.
