Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 medium onion, finely chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup beef broth

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon olive oil

4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed

½ cup milk (or more for creaminess)

4 tablespoons butter

Chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Mashed Potatoes:

    - In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the peeled and cubed potatoes. Cook until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.

      - Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the butter and milk, and mash to your desired consistency. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover to keep warm.

        Cook the Beef Mixture:

          - In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

            - Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

              - Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula. Drain excess fat if necessary.

                Make the Gravy:

                  - Sprinkle the flour over the browned beef and stir well to coat. Cook for 1-2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.

                    - Gradually stir in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Add dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Allow to simmer for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until the gravy thickens. Adjust seasoning as needed.

                      Assemble the Dish:

                        - To serve, scoop a generous portion of mashed potatoes onto a plate. Create a small well in the center and ladle the beef and gravy mixture over the potatoes.

                          Garnish and Serve:

                            - Sprinkle chopped parsley on top for a fresh touch. Serve hot and enjoy your hearty meal!
