Ingredients

1 package (8 oz) of refrigerated crescent roll dough

4 oz sliced ham (preferably smoked or honey-cured)

4 oz sliced cheese (such as Swiss or cheddar)

1 egg (for egg wash)

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)

1 tablespoon fresh herbs (like thyme or chives, finely chopped)

A pinch of black pepper

Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

Prepare the Crescent Roll Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into the pre-cut triangles as indicated on the packaging.

Layer the Ingredients: Place a slice of ham on the wide end of each triangle. If you’re using Dijon mustard, spread a thin layer on top of the ham. Then, add a slice of cheese.

Add Fresh Herbs: Sprinkle a little bit of freshly chopped herbs and a pinch of black pepper on top of the cheese for added flavor.

Roll Them Up: Starting from the wide end, carefully roll up the triangle towards the pointed end. Ensure that the filling is enclosed within the dough.

Prepare the Egg Wash: In a small bowl, beat the egg. Brush the tops of each croissant with the egg wash to give them a lovely golden color when baked.

Add Sesame Seeds: If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds on top of the croissants for an extra crunch and visual appeal.

Bake: Place the rolled croissants on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them out to allow for expansion. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown and puffed.

Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly on a wire rack. Serve warm and enjoy these delicious mini ham and cheese bites!
