Ingredients

For the dough:

3 ½ cups all-purpose flour

¼ cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

½ cup whole milk, warmed

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

For the filling:

½ cup brown sugar, packed

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

½ cup pecans, chopped

2 medium pears, peeled and diced

3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

For the sticky glaze:

½ cup brown sugar, packed

¼ cup unsalted butter

2 tablespoons water

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

Instructions

Prepare the dough: In a large bowl, mix together 2 cups of flour, sugar, yeast, salt, and cinnamon until well combined. In a separate bowl, combine the warm milk, melted butter, and eggs. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until combined.

Knead the dough: Gradually add the remaining flour, ½ cup at a time, until a soft dough forms. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

Prepare the filling: In a bowl, mix the brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped pecans. Set aside.

Roll out the dough: After the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. On a floured surface, roll the dough into a rectangle (about 16x12 inches).

Spread filling: Spread the softened butter over the dough, leaving a ½ inch border. Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture evenly on top, followed by the diced pears.

Shape the buns: Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces and place them cut-side up in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

Second rise: Cover the dish with a kitchen towel and let the buns rise for another 30-45 minutes until they have puffed up.

Prepare sticky glaze: In a small saucepan, combine the brown sugar, butter, water, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the mixture is smooth and starts to bubble. Remove from heat and set aside.

Bake the buns: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour the sticky glaze evenly over the risen buns before baking. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.

Cool and serve: Remove the sticky buns from the oven and let them cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting onto a serving plate. Serve warm and enjoy the gooey, sweet goodness!
