Ingredients

1 lb (450g) lean beef (flank steak or sirloin), thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

1 red bell pepper, sliced

4 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece ginger, grated

1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon sesame oil

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 teaspoon sugar

Salt and black pepper to taste

Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

Prep the Ingredients: Begin by slicing the beef thinly against the grain. Prepare the veggies by cutting the broccoli into bite-sized florets and slicing the red bell pepper. Set aside.

Make the Marinade: In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, and sugar. Mix until smooth. Add the sliced beef to the marinade and let it sit for about 10 minutes.

Cook the Broccoli: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until they are vibrant green and stir-fry them. Remove from the pan and set aside.

Stir-Fry the Beef: In the same skillet, add the remaining vegetable oil. Once hot, add the marinated beef to the pan in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd it. Let it sear for about 2 minutes without stirring. Then, stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until the beef is cooked through.

Add Vegetables: Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the beef. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Return the broccoli and add the sliced red bell pepper to the pan. Toss everything together to combine.

Final Seasoning: Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and black pepper if necessary. Stir-fry everything together for another minute to heat through.

Serve: Remove from heat and serve over cooked rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for added flavor and crunch.
