Ingredients

1 pound breakfast sausage, ground (pork, turkey, or plant-based)

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1/4 cup finely chopped green onions

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 package (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough

1 egg (for egg wash)

Optional: Hot sauce or maple syrup, for serving

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Cook the Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, crumble and cook the breakfast sausage until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess grease.

Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix the cooked sausage with cheddar cheese, green onions, garlic powder, and black pepper until well combined.

Prepare Crescent Rolls: Unroll the crescent roll dough on a clean surface. Separate the dough into triangles along the perforated lines.

Fill the Dough: Take a heaping tablespoon of the sausage mixture and place it at the wide end of each triangle. Roll the dough towards the pointed end, enclosing the filling and forming a crescent shape. Pinch the edges to seal.

Egg Wash: In a small bowl, beat the egg and brush it over the tops of each crescent roll to give them a golden, glossy finish.

Bake: Place the filled crescent rolls on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Serve: Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly. Serve warm with hot sauce or maple syrup on the side for dipping, if desired.
