Ingredients

2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

½ tsp baking soda

¼ tsp salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 ½ cups granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp almond extract

½ cup finely chopped fresh strawberries (about 3-4 medium strawberries)

Optional: Red and pink sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line several baking sheets with parchment paper.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Cream the Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Add Egg and Extracts: Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the butter-sugar mixture. Beat well until fully combined, scraping down the sides of the bowl as necessary.

Incorporate Strawberries: Gently fold the finely chopped strawberries into the mixture, ensuring they're evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Combine with Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients. Mix on low speed until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Chill the Dough: Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up, which will make it easier to roll out.

Roll Out Cookie Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to about ¼ inch thick. Use heart-shaped cookie cutters to cut out cookies.

Place and Decorate: Transfer the cookies to the prepared baking sheets, spacing them 1 inch apart. If desired, sprinkle red and pink sprinkles on top for decoration.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are slightly golden. The centers may look a bit soft, but they will firm up as they cool.

Cool the Cookies: Once out of the oven, let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serve and Enjoy: These delightful Sweet Strawberry Heart Sugar Cookies can be enjoyed as a treat or given as a heartfelt gift!
